Antelope Valley College was presented two awards for its publications from the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations (NCMPR) during a conference held in Reno.
The college was presented a Gold Medallion (first place) in the annual awards competition for a series of three color postcards designed to promote the college’s 56 vocational/technical programs among young adults. The cards, designed by college graphic artist Vicki Mathias, featured bright graphics combined with a simple message, topping out competing entries from the entire region, which includes Arizona, California, Hawaii, Nevada and Utah. Design coordinator Liz Diachun assisted with the project.
In the class schedule category, the college’s Fall 2007 Schedule of Classes was presented a Bronze Medallion (third place). The schedule contained articles on the college, including a feature on a national-award-winning scholarship recipient, and display ads on college programs.
Diachun was responsible for the publication’s design, cover photography and display ads.
“It’s great to receive external validation for the work that we do in serving the students and the public,” said Steve Standerfer, director of public and governmental relations.
