Professional artist and renowned drawing instructor Glenn
Vilppu will have his work presented in a solo exhibition at
the Antelope Valley College Art Gallery, 3041 W. Ave. K, Lancaster,
Aug. 25-Sept. 26.
“Glenn Vilppu Retrospective” will feature a combination
of examples of his work, both figurative and landscape in
several different media. Vilppu’s works combine his
mastery of drawing with a free-flowing, intuitive style.
A resident of Acton, Vilppu has taught drawing for more than
45 years while working in the animation industry. His teaching
credits include Walt Disney Pictures and Walt Disney Television,
Dream Works, Warner Brothers and the American Animation Institute.
He has taught in Japan, Australia, Korea, Canada and elsewhere.
He attended Art Center College of Design, where he earned
both Bachelor of Fine Arts and Master of Fine Arts degrees.
In teaching, Vilppu stresses there are “no rules, just
tools.”
“I do not teach a style, I teach tools of communication
and give direction to acquiring knowledge,” he said.
“Knowledge coupled with the development of skill and
feeling is what creates the magic.”
